The old city is laid out in rings around the temple, and those streets were designed centuries before anyone thought about a twenty-foot truck. That single fact shapes most of what packers and movers in Madurai actually have to solve. Around Chithirai Street and the lanes behind it, the big vehicle simply does not go in. So we do not try. We park where it is legal, shuttle with a smaller vehicle, and carry the last stretch by hand. It takes longer and we say so up front, because the alternative is a crew discovering it at nine in the morning and inventing a charge on the spot.

Timing matters here more than in most cities. Madurai wakes early and the old town fills up fast, and once it does, nothing moves. We take the early slot, load while the streets are still empty, and are clear before the day builds. Around festival time, when the temple draws crowds that shut whole streets, we plan around the calendar rather than pretend it is not happening. Outside the old rings, Madurai is a different job entirely. Anna Nagar, KK Nagar, Tallakulam and Thirunagar have proper roads, apartments and lifts, so a shift there runs like a shift anywhere. A good part of our work in the city is hospital and college staff, who tend to move in a hurry with a week's notice, and small textile traders whose stock is worth more than their furniture and gets packed accordingly.

Going out of the city, NH44 heads north to Salem and on to Bengaluru, which is a long day's haul once the load is on. NH85 runs east toward Rameswaram and Thoothukudi. Both are roads we drive regularly. Wherever your things are going, the terms are the same: someone looks at the load before we quote, the number in writing is the number you pay, transit cover runs to ₹10 lakh, and there is a GST invoice at the other end.

A word on textiles, since we get asked here more than anywhere else. Traders around the old town shift stock far more often than they shift furniture, and cloth is its own problem: it creases, it marks, and it takes damp badly in a closed truck. Stock goes in lined cartons, packed flat and never stuffed to the lid. Handle it like bedding and you will be unhappy when you open it. Tell us at the survey that it is stock rather than household goods and we will pack it as stock.
